Steven D. Hill - Downtown Dallas, Arts District

39 years old.

Started photography in 2007.

Everything is major when it comes to the accomplished photographer, graphic artist, local philanthropist, and makeup artist Steven D. Hill. Through the perfect blend of vision, talent, and dedication, he has garnered international acclaim within his industry. Renowned for his innovation, superior quality, and meticulous attention to detail, it is evident that he possesses a natural knack for crafting beauty.

In college, Hill took courses in fashion design and makeup for the stage, but it wasn’t until after graduation that he discovered his talent for photography. Other than skimming through a photography how-to book he saved from High School, he’s completely self-taught. Hill has already made a name for himself in the local fashion community through his work on both sides of the camera, showcasing his unique eye for aesthetics and craftsmanship.

Hill applies the knowledge gained from design communication and color theory to his photography, crafting strikingly fashionable visuals that play with vibrant hues against somber monochromatic tones. Reflecting on his studies in interactive media, he emphasizes how they improved his grasp of composition and design communication. For him, photography is an art form that he delights in creating and capturing, utilizing light's diverse qualities to compose exceptional shots akin to a painter wielding brushes to create a masterpiece.

Hill explains that his passion for photography serves as a means for him to creatively express himself using digital techniques. He characterizes his unique photographic approach as a blend of fashion, pop culture, and media, offering a fresh take on the intersection between fashion and photography. Interestingly, his fascination with makeup developed long before his interest in photography, stemming from observing his mother's daily routine in the bathroom. Witnessing her preparations left a lasting impression on him, resonating with the intrinsic strength he perceived in her actions.

That initial spark of inspiration guided him towards the journey he currently embarks on. “I appreciate your skill in transforming one's look. The subtlest hint of color could completely alter the eye's perception; a simple stroke along the eyelid can bring out its vibrancy,” Hill elaborates. “Incorporating artificial lashes can truly revolutionize an individual's appearance by half,” he explains. “The impact of witnessing the emotional transformation in my clients after a makeup session never ceases to amaze me. It's truly heartwarming to hear individuals express, ‘You've truly brightened my day simply by helping me feel beautiful.’”

It's evident that he possesses a knack for the unconventional and extraordinary. Demonstrated through his work, he transitions effortlessly from featuring models with a barely-there makeup look to pushing boundaries with vibrant colors and unique textures, resulting in an ethereal and ultra-glamorous vibe. His journey of growth and exploration in his interconnected fields never ceases, with a commitment to showcasing them harmoniously.

There is ample space for his growth, despite encountering closed doors in the past. His tenacity promises swift openings ahead. From 2011 to 2015, he collaborated with the Grammy Award-winning artist Erykah Badu, marking just the initial phase of his ambitious journey towards greater heights..

His main aim is to be famous worldwide.
